article review

After reading the article on "Man may have been borned in outer space", I felt very surprised. How can man be borned from outer space? After reading on, however, I began to feel that what the scientist had found made sense. Afterall, if the water on earth was brought to us by comets, why couldn't life? I feel that there is so much about our origin that we do not know of, and if we do not know about how we came about, who are we to make assupmtions on how animals are formed? The scientist have found traces of building blocks of biology in comets and this has made me realised that of all the things that there are in the world, what we know is but a mere basics, thus making me understand that learning is infinite and that we should never stop learning, even when we grow old, as there are tons of other things in which we can learn, and so learning is a never ending process.

My Favourite Food

My most favourite food is a Japanese delicacy called sashimi. It is often served raw with soya sauce or wasabi. Sashimi is actually very fresh, thin sliced pieces of fish. The special thing about sashimi is how it is caught and how it is killed before it is served to retain its freshness. Sashimi Grade' fish is caught by individual handline, and as soon as the fish is landed, its brain is pierced with a sharp spike, killing it instantly, then placed in slurried ice. This spiking is called the Ike jime process. Because the flesh thus contains minimal lactic acid from the fish dying slowly, it will keep fresh on ice for about 10 days without turning white, or otherwise degrading.
Sashimi is often the first course in a formal Japanese meal, but can also be the main course, presented with rice and Miso soup in separate bowls. I like sashimi because it taste very nice, and has a very distinctive flavour, particularly with soya sauce. The sashimi looks like pinkish slices of fish and it has very little smell, which makes me like it more. Often, when i go to a Japanese restaurent, Sashimi would be the first thing i order, and thus I feel that sashimi is indeed my favourite food.

eng home learning lesson 3

I think that when the auther was writing the poem, he probably missed his childhood and decided to write so that he sould, in a sense, revisit his childhood memories and share it with the whole world.

I didn't cherish my primary school days,
and life had passed by in a daze.
And when I finally left,
I felt a little depressed.

The times I spent with all my friends,
soon forgotten like in a trance.
I didn't really study hard,
so my punishments got hard,

In the end,
I realised that I didn't want to fail
So I studied hard,
and than I got rewards.

I took my friends for granted
I thought they would always be there.
I thought wrong,
And now they don't even know my name.

I know why the caged bird sings by Maya Angelou

A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange suns rays
And dares to claim the sky.

But a BIRD that stalks down his narrow cage
Can seldom see through his bars of rage
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown but longed for still
And his tune is heard on the distant hill for
The caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom.

There are alot of different figurative language in this poem, metaphors such as 'a free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream'which describes the way the bird flies gracefully in the sky.'dares to blaim the sky' shows how the birds is like the owner of the sky.'can seldom see through the bars of rage'shows us how much he hates the cage in which he lives in.'stand on the grave of dreams'describes how the bird's right for freedom is taken away from him and how it feels depressed.
I like this poem because it kind of describes how we students feel sometimes about our school work, and reading this makes me feel that while we have alot of homework to do, assignments to complete, things to learn, etc, we still have the freedom to play computergames at home, to go out on weekends with our friends, have holidays, go overseas with our family and so on. It makes me want to treasure what I have, for the bird who longs for freedom but is trapped in the cage, has none of those things that we have and can enjoy.

An Alternate Ending To Nothing But The Truth

Here's what really happened in the book(Phillip changes school and his new teacher finds out he does not know the lyrics). Here's what I altered.Hope you enjoy it.(In this alternate ending,he still changes school. However, there's a catch.Read on to find out!)

Philip Malloy entered his new classroom.'I can't believe it!'he thought,as he smiled ear to ear.'I just can't believe it!I've finally gotten rid of that miserable old bat,Narwin!'.He spies an empty seat and settles down nicely. Most of his classmates seem to think his arrival was no big deal, and thus, didn't talk to him as he sat down, other than the few odd-one-outs who said 'hi'.As philip mulled over the events that have happened over the stretch of a few weeks, the principle of the school came in and gave an announcement"Class,I would like to introduce you all to our school's new teacher, miss Magaret Narwin. Please make her feel at home and try not to cause any troubles for her.I leave you to introduce yourself to them then, miss Narwin.""hello class, this is a really wonderful oppotunity for me to teach all of you.I hope that we will all strive to get better grades"Miss Narwin ended her introduction.at this point,Phillip, who had heard that voice not too long ago, froze in his seat.the principles words echoed in his mind.'Margaret Narwin.Miss Margaret Narwin.'The familiar voice of the teacher he once so hated, and thought would never hear again, had sounded again. The principle had also confirmed the name.Philip closed his eyes.He clasp his hand together in a feverish prayer,as if if he prayed hard enough, his teacher would not be Margaret Narwin, the one who had caused him all this grief. He slowly opened his eyes."NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Blog promt-socio-economic impact of the three gorges dam

By making the dam, they have already caused severe deforestation. As what they are doing will cause annual land slides to Yangtze, they had to move the village, which will result in more deforestation. This is a very big blow to the environment and will make Global Warming even worst. Not only that, the areas downstream will also be very liable to flooding as there is an absence of silt ther to prevent flooding.I fell that China should consider all these problems before making the dams as well as finding solutions to the problem,in a way that does not harm the environment. We all have a part to play in preventing global warming. So i feel that China did not really put much thought into this project before they started making these dams.Readers, what do you think about this whole affair?

summary of village by the sea

In chapter 1,I learnt about the members of the family(Lila-the older sister,Bela and Kalma.the younger sisters and Hari-their older brother and their dog-Pinto).I also read about the family's plight(their mother being bed-ridden,their drunkard of a father and not to mention, they are also very poor).Hari struggles to help his family get food and money and he plans on working in the factory but has doubts about it.Meanwhile,he has to make ends meet by fishing for his family's dinner or working for the de Silva's in bombay.
I think that Hari is a very filial son and that Lila,Bela,Kalma, his parents are very fortunate to have him as a son. However, even though his father is always drunk,he should not curse his father for without his father,he wouldn't even be alive.
